Windows 10 PCs automatically check for updates and install any updates they find. You can take some control over this and have Windows 10 install updates on your schedule, but these options are hidden.
The main problem of this update running on background is that users who have a low speed connection could not use the internet at an optimum speed while the update is downloading.

To turn off automatic update downloads you have to go to the Wi-Fi under settings and click on the Advanced options.Then turn on the metered connection.While this setting is on no more updates will be download through that particular Wi-Fi connection.
